Incentives

3 races per day offered for accredited Louisiana Breds at each track each day in Louisiana

Beginning with foals of 2021, breeders awards will be paid by the following schedule which is subject to change,

  1. Foals out of Resident Mares that are sired by Louisiana Domiciled Stallions shall receive full breeders awards according to the schedule established by the board of directors. (For 2021 foals 20%)
  2. Foals out of Resident Mares that are sired by Out Of State Stallions and the mare is bred back to a Louisiana Domiciled Stallion shall receive awards of 90% of full breeders awards according to a schedule established by the board of directors. (For 2021 foals 18%)
  3. Foals out of Resident Mares that are sired by Out Of State Stallions and the mare is bred back to an Out Of State Stallion shall receive ½ of full breeders awards according to a schedule established by the board of directors. (For 2021 foals 9%)
  4. Foals out of Non-Resident Mares shall receive ½ of full breeders awards according to the schedule established by the board of directors. (For 2021 foals 9% if first foal is by Out Of State Stallion, 10% if by a Louisiana Domiciled Stallion. All subsequent foals will have to be by Louisiana Stallions and they will receive 10% )

 

ALL LOUISIANA BRED BREEDERS AWARDS ARE PAID WITH THE PURSE CAPPED AT $200,000

BREEDERS AWARDS are paid to Accredited Louisiana Breds finishing first, second, or third in any stake race outside of Louisiana according to a schedule established by the board of directors which is subject to change 

WORLD WIDE BREEDERS AWARDS are paid to Accredited Louisiana Breds finishing first, second, or third in any race outside Louisiana according to a schedule established by the board of directors which is subject to change  out of state breeders awards are paid once a year, usually in Feburary.

PURSE SUPPLEMENTS:

  1. ½ breakage used to supplement races restricted to Accredited Louisiana Breds
  2. 30% of thoroughbred share of net win from slot machines at the race tracks is used to supplement purses for Accredited Louisiana Breds.
  3. 1/2 of 1% of video poker franchise fee statewide with 2/3 of the fund going to thoroughbreds.

MULTIPLE STATE BRED DAYS – Louisiana is the only state with more than one state bred day. We have one at each track in Louisiana for a total of four: Louisiana Premier Night at Delta Downs, Louisiana Legends Night at Evangeline Downs, Louisiana Cup Day at Louisiana Downs, and Louisiana Champions Day at the Fair Grounds.

STALLION AWARDS are paid based on a stallions progeny finishing first, second or third in an allowance, handicap or stake race in Louisiana or in a stakes race outside of Louisiana. Stallion awards are paid once a year, usually in August.
